What is TACKY? It's the Teen Advisory Council Kids Yo! of the Union County Public Library! A group of teens (6th grade +) who are interested in improving the Library's service to teens and making the Library a fun place for teens to go! We have a monthly meeting, elected officers, and we have a voice in teen library programs, community service programs and books that the Library offers! Come on in and join TACKY!

Did you know that your scores on the ACT or SAT, if high enough, can provide paid tuition at most colleges? That means it can really pay to practice! All practice tests are available (including PSAT, ACT, SAT) at INSPIRE. Testing and Education Resource Center. See INSPIRE link below. Come to the Library to use a public computer or laptop for a practice test!

SAT Essay-Writing Workshop with Amy Young on 3 days in a row: (Tues, Wed and Thurs) March 9, 10, 11th! Come for one or all three. Amy was a grader for the SAT essay! She returns to Liberty for fun and intensive writing workshops, providing you with a toolbox to take to the test center with you. Perfect timing for the SAT on Sat, March 13! Ask your teachers for EXTRA CREDIT! WE'LL HAVE EXCELLENT PIZZA! Call to register by 6:00 pm Monday, March 8, so we will know how many to expect, but come anyday even if you haven't registered!

Four more free Guitar Classes on four Thursdays: March 4, 25, April 1 and 8, 2010, 4:00-5:00 p.m. at the Junction in College Corner with Jay Jesse Johnson, an established blues guitarist who grew up in this county and learned to play guitar at age 10!

TACKY Book Club for March 23: Come sign-out a copy of Book 2 in the Percy Jackson series and come or the college-bound book Mythology by Edith Hamilton! Come for a book discussion on Tuesday, March 23, 1:00-2:30 during Spring Break!

Book Review: Stolen by Vivian Van de Velde

Stolen was about 6-year-old Isabelle, whose older sister, Honey, killed her by pushing her into a very deep hole. A witch took her out of the hole, brought her back to life, healed her wounds, and then turned Isabelle into a baby (so she would not remember anything) and gave her to another family. Six years goes by and Honey kills a new baby sister by dropping her into the same hole! As the witch is escaping from an angry mob, she disguises herself as the 12-year-old Isabelle and brings the second baby back to life and turns her into a goat! Honey then pushes the witch (Isabelle) down the hole, but the witch is able to heal herself and take a tunnel to Isabelle's (now named Raven) second family. The witch (Isabelle) goes to turn Honey into a baby, whom she gives back to her original mother, so that she could be raised again - the right way. Does this work - does Honey grow up to a better person? Do Raven or Honey ever find out who they really are? Does the witch (Isabelle) ever bring the goat back?

I liked this book because it was unpredictable, as it moved from past to present to past to present again! I would recommend this book to a friend. I give this book 5 tackmen.
